Following a recent presentation by  Ginni Rometty , the CEO of IBM , at an event by the  Council on Foreign Relations  it was presented a vision where data is the center for competitive business advantage. This claim follows on the current context where the power of data stored by utilizing cloud computing flexibility, mobile real-time streams and social networking data. It then follows that data analytics is an important part of the decision making process and it was stated by  Ginni Rometty : " Many more decisions will be based on predictive elements versus gut instincts...decisions are still being made based on anchoring biases ". We have learned that Facebook bought some of IBM's intellectual property rights. Following this report   the deal involved 750 patents  which included software, networking and other technologies. This news follows the case where Yahoo is prosecuting Facebook, where it claims that the Facebook model is based on their technology. It has been reported by an unnamed source that at least some of the patents involved in this latest deal might have been licensed by  IBM to Yahoo .

IBM has today announced and presented at its fifth annual "Next Five in Five", some innovations that it believes to have the potential to change the way people work and live over the next five years.
