WhatsApp Now Free Voice Calls for its Users

WhatsApp now features a free voice calling on its Android app.

With this new feature addition on WhatsApp it will give a more competitive feature choice when comparing with other popular services such as Skype, Viber and FaceTime

This new offering feature from WhatsApp was already available Android since last month however in beta version to a selection of its users,
It now follows, that the voice calling capabilities is available for every user on Android.

The voice calling feature is now available on version 2.12.5, however at present the Google Play Store only offers the older version 2.12.19. It is expected in the next couple of weeks the new version will be available as a direct download on the store.

In the meantime, in order to be able to access this new calling feature straight away, users will have to download the Android application package (APK) file version 2.12.5 on the WhatsApp website or on an APK Mirror , and there is even a good tutorial here on how to install the package.

Once installed the APK file and opening WhatsApp, users can see a new tab for Calls next to the Chats and Contacts tab. Tap on the Calls tab and simply select the name of the person that you want to call.
The way it works is thatn when a user calls from the WhatsApp, the incoming WhatsApp call screen will display. Users are then able to tap and slide the green button to answer the call or slide the red button to decline the call.

Futhermore, the Calls tab has a list of all your incoming, outgoing and missed WhatsApp calls. Included on the calling feature is the option to switch to speakerphone during calls, mute calls and view the time spent for each call.
